An Effluent Treatment plant is a unit plat where using multiple methods wastewater is treated for its reuse or safe disposal to the environment.

Most treatment plants are preceded by some type of pre-treatment device which will remove some untreatable matter and prevent it from entering the waste flow (plastics, rags, rocks, etc.).
